Motivated to Succeed in Dieting and Sports Training", the text will
make reference to its original title, "The Aspen Diet."
Below
is an excerpt from the book's introduction, written by Dr. Norman Vincent
Peale, author of the best selling self-help book of all time, "The
Power of Positive Thinking." (Also see other user successes below his
comments.)
"When
I read this book, Permanent Weight Loss with the Aspen Diet by Robert
Lawrence, an extraordinary wise statement by Andre Maurois comes to mind.
It is this: 'Our minds have unbelievable power over our bodies.' And I
also thought of a comment by that genius and wizard Thomas A. Edison as
related to me by his widow: "The only reason we have the body is to
carry the brain around.' That is to say that the brain is of primary
importance, for within the brain structure operates the mind. And it is
with the mind that we think, decide and regulate the body and control our
lives.
"Actually
this book dealing as it does with the power of creative thought can not
only affect diet and, therefore, produce a better physical condition, but
the principle of thought conditioning that it teaches can lead on to
success in other aspects of life as well.
"The
book teaches the techniques of imaging and visualization relating them
primarily to diet. That these principles can have a profound effect if
practiced as outlined here there can be no doubt whatsoever. In fact, the
teaching of visualization of Robert Lawrence's book is so well-conceived
and expressed that any reader of the book or listener to the tapes is
bound to develop a mental change that will surely result in a new physical
well-being, and beyond that a new life generally.
"There
is a deep tendency in human nature to become precisely like that which we
habitually imagine or image ourselves as being. The long and persistently
held mental picture strongly tends to reproduce itself as fact. Anyone
deeply desiring to achieve permanent weight loss and who definitely
pictures the weight desired will, by following the teachings of this book,
surely attain the desired goal.
"Following
one of my lectures, a woman obviously obese demanded to know "if the
positive thinking principles which I taught could help her attain her
weight goal." 'What is your goal?' I asked. "Oh, I don't know
exactly, but I would like to be slender." 'How slender?' I demanded.
Again a vague answer.
"I
asked her to state a definite weight figure and the exact date she wished
to attain it. I then told her to visualize herself as of that weight and
to picture achievement on the date, and if she did this strongly she would
attain it. Up to that time she had failed in every attempted diet effort.
With this positive image and visualization of success, she had the power
not hitherto possessed. She attained the imaged weight by the specified
date! Had Robert Lawrence's book been available at that time I would
certainly have recommended it to her. I now recommend it to you. Its
principles work.
"A
couplet by Goethe occurs to me: 'Whatever you can do or dream you can,
begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.'"

"I
did lose all the weight I wanted. I was extremely skeptical about this
program to begin with. Having done the program, it did work! This program
reaches far past just a diet. The mind techniques were the most
fascinating to me. I apply the program in business, with work, my child,
and of course my weight. The program taught me the importance of giving
time to myself and then putting that time to its best use in my daily
life. To conclude, THE PROGRAM WORKS."

"I've
lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks. I've lost the weight and have not had a problem
regaining it. My goal was to lose 15 pounds and I've leveled at a 20-pound
loss. That's ok, and I couldn't be more pleased."

"I've
lost 21 pounds. I feel I have been successful regarding the awareness that
The Aspen Diet has taught me. This system has taught me to believe in
myself more, which therefore releases a great deal of stress."

"Besides
loosing 18 pounds, I have learned to control my eating habits. And also
feel that I can program myself in being better in many other areas, mainly
sports."

"The
electronic book format of the Performance Diet program in Parts two and
three take a little time to get used to. This is because you have to read
the books off the computer screen. Also, you only read a small section
before doing either an exercise or actually using what you read. It is not
as difficult as I thought AND the great exercise and motivation
information is worth the extra effort."
